CD-ROM ToolKit™ Patch
Copyright © 1997 FWB Software, LLC
August 15th, 1997
Who needs this patch?
This patch corrects a problem which only appears on 68040 based Mac OS
computers running Mac OS8.
Why is this patch necessary?
There appears to be a problem in the Mac OS8 Finder. CD-ROM ToolKit
returns an unspecified value to the Finder's request for information about
CD-ROM ToolKit. This value, which should be harmless, appears
to cause the Finder to crash. This problem does not happen on PowerPC
based computers and is expected to be corrected in the next version of
the Mac OS. (Version 8.0.1 is expected later this year.)
Which versions of CD-ROM ToolKit can be patched?
This patch has been tested with the following versions of CD-ROM ToolKit:
3.0
2.5.1
2.0.6
It is expected to work with all other versions of CD-ROM ToolKit from 1.5.2
on, which are dated prior to August 12th 1997.
This patch has not been tested with the versions of CDT from 1.5.2 dated
prior to August 12, 1997. If you have one of these versions, we encourage
you to upgrade or update your version of CDT. Details of upgrades and updates are
available on our web site. (http://www.fwb.com.)
How do I use the patch?
If CD-ROM ToolKit is correctly installed on your computer, just double click the
patch to install it. The patch will automatically search for your current version of
CDT and patch that. If successful, it will give an alert that the patch was successfully
applied.
If this does not work, you can activate the patch by dragging the CD-ROM ToolKit
extension file onto the patch. (This should be "CD-ROM ToolKit™ Extension" from your
extensions folder inside the system folder, or the "CD-ROM ToolKit" control
panel from your control panels folder for versions prior to 2.0). The patch will tell
you if it was successful or if the patch could not be applied.
The patch might fail if:
You have already patched that file.
The file is not the correct version.
The file is not the correct file.
Enjoy.
